Introduction to Neurodivergent-affirming Workplaces
How has this talk been developed?
This 1 hour (in total) talk, comprising approximately 45-50 minutes content and a brief question and answer session to finish. It has been developed in-line with the latest research and empirical studies relating to aspects of neurodiversity, and neurodivergent-affirming support in professional settings, and balanced with 10 years professional experience of supporting neurodivergent people, professionals and organisations, as well as lived experience of the specific subject matter.
What is the overall course aim of the talk?
You will gain a basic understanding of what neurodiversity is, neurodivergent culture, and how to foster neurodivergent-affirming support within your workplace and team.
What are the expected learning outcomes?
- To have a good understanding of autism, and an introduction to ADHD/AuDHD/Dyslexia/Dyscalculia/Tourettes Syndrome/Mental Health/Perception Disorders/Amnesia/Aphasia
- To be aware of the basic language used when talking about autism and neurodivergence at work
- To be aware of how to quickly adapt everyday communication and interaction to support autistic and neurodivergent people
- To be aware of best-practice approaches to removing uncertainty and providing predictability for autistic and Neurodivergent employees
- To be aware of some simple and supportive and autism and neurodivergent-affirming environmental changes
- To be able to find further resources to support autism and neurodivergent-affirming team or personal-practice change

This course has been designed for everyone In the workplace. No previous knowledge or training is required.
This course will be helpful in preparing for our extended 3 hour courses on various topics.
