November '24 - Conferencing done differently..and our one-page profiles

Published on 13 November 2024 at 10:29

What a fantastic few days in Manchester we had at the CIPD annual conference last week. On our stand we..

• lowered the lights
• eliminated blue light
• provided healing and calming green light sources
• we created a sound baffle to dampen noise with our overhead sail
• we eliminated as much background noise by providing headphones for people to listen in to our pre-recorded training snippets

• played delta waves
• ensured wheelchair and mobility aid access
• provided comfortable, sturdy, seating suitable for people with proprioception needs
• offered stim toy giveaways
• gave out tactile and recyclable information leaflets
• provided a natural room scent of calming lavender and chamomile essential oils
• created a passive receiving environment for people to explore our resources with no pressure and approach us for a conversation.

We wanted to show that conference exhibiting can be done differently, and all of our nerves about how we would be received were banished by the wonderful, affirming feedback we got from visitors - autistic/ADHD or otherwise.
